Some Plans !

This blog is all about sharing thoughts and raising awareness on the Lyon Street Community Garden . Indeed, should it be called Lyon Street Garden Community Garden anyway? What are your thoughts on what it should be called and look like ? Post them here.
Stobswell has a huge amount of heritage. How can this link to the space?
One of the consultation boards with comments

A consultation event held at Arthurstone Library on the 21st June came up with lots of ideas that are now going to be developed by our Landscape Architect into some provisional drawings ready for further discussion. Get involved and put your thoughts on the blog or admin@solarcitiesscotland.org.uk

Some plants

A mysterious planting of the raised beds happened this week. Some tomatoes, cabbage and flowers were put in to the half filled raised beds. Workers from Helm training managed to move the plants and fill one of the beds with soil to give a decent growing medium and depth. Some culinary herbs also planted too care of dundee college.

What could it be ? Event

A good turn out tonight for this consultation event where visitors made there thoughts known on the space. This info is now being incorporated into some first stage designs ready for further comment. We will post updates here but put your thoughts on the blog too

Jubilee Weekend event at LSCG

There was a great turn out from locals, students and organisations at the garden for this first in a series of consultation events on the garden. Local residents made screen prints of orchard trees using Dundee Urban Orchard's unique mobile print unit. Participants also planted one of DUO's 'shadow markers' to represent their commitment to planting a small scale orchard within the garden. Music was created by the pedal powered sparky spokes kit. More can be found at the Dundee Channel. Look out for the next event on the 21st June from 4.30pm to 6.30pm where we will be gathering more thoughts on the use and design of this space.
Young children are keen to use the site !
A Dundee Urban Orchard "shadow marker" planted on the site to show a promise to the future
The unique Mobile Printing press brought fun and colour to the event.
